We put the Hand Held Dyno® Ignition to the test in back-to-back shootouts against the stock ignitions on a Kawasaki, Honda and Ducati – the results were impressive! And with no requirement to configure timing you can install it yourself!
Above: Out with the old… The Hand Held Dyno digital ignition (right) installed on a 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900. Below: The Hand Held Dyno® Ignition (blue) produced a 5.97% increase in horsepower and a 10.75% increase in torque on the stock ignition of Paul Singleton’s Kawasaki.
Above: Mike Arnott‘s Honda 750 Four. Below: Hand Held Dyno® Ignition (blue) produced a 7.7% increase in horsepower and a 9.4% increase in torque on his Honda’s stock ignition.
Above: Chad Smith’s Ducati. Below: Hand Held Dyno® Ignition produced a 7.1% increase in horsepower on his Ducati over another aftermarket vendors electronic ignition.
Too good to be true? Not really, the difference in performance by the examples shown above is accounted for by the very different technologies being used. Contact points and their mechanical advance systems (used by most aftermarket electronic ignition vendors) were invented in 1911, so it’s no wonder that over 110 years later they can’t match the performance of the 21st century engineering found in the Hand Held Dyno® kit. For a full explanation visit “Is your ignition working” where Automotive Engine Management Engineer with over 20 Engine Management Patents, Mike Garrard explains why the Hand Held Dyno® performs so well.
The Tuner Edition App supplies a host of diagnostic options including (L-R) Race tacho screen; Monitor carburetor balance, anytime, anywhere; the Sensor Page – optional sensors can be fitted permanently to your bike to record all the data you see on this screen incl. Tachometer, Air Fuel Ratio, EGT 1 and 2 (can be any combination of sensors), MAP 1 and 2, GPS Speed, Battery voltage and charging rate and more.
Hand Held Dyno® Ignitions are now available for most CB Hondas to 1978, Kawasaki Z1 to 1982, and all Belt and Bevel Ducatis to 1988.
