Cdi Ignition Units for Japanese Classics

Story & photos: from Marcus Rex (Rex’s Speedshop) in the UK.

Rex’s have been supplying customers with ignition and electrical items for classic Japanese motorcycles since 2008. One of our first customers in Australia was Stew Ross of the SR500 owners club. Stew’s SR500 ran at 125mph on Lake Gairdner with a standard ignition that we breathed on to extract a little extra spark power to fire its highly tuned engine. Not only do we supply SR500 ignition units but now many Suzuki models such as GTs and the TS185/250, also Kawasaki triples, Yamaha RZ250/350 along with some classic YZ and MX models from the 1970s.

Rex’s Speedshop have a great range of replacement Cdi Ignition units available for a variety of classic bikes.

Our aim at Rex’s is to create solutions where the original electronics are now aged and failing. Japanese ignition systems were designed by some of the best designers in the world and they set an extremely high standard. However through constant research and development we are able to offer an increasing range of solutions that keep classic motorcycle ignitions and electrics working reliably.
