Ducati legend, successful businessman, collector extraordinaire, the late Ric Begg had seen it all, done it all. Now the contents of his amazing collection, known far and wide as The Shed or Museo del Ricardo, housed near Brunswick in Victoria, will find new owners following the current auction conducted by Donington.
From an early age, Ric rode a Vincent Rapide as fast as it would go, and as his professional life expanded rapidly, was able to indulge his passion for other motorcycles, notably Ducatis. He was a founding member of the Ducati Owners Club of Victoria, and was later made a Life Member.

Ric also competed successfully in Historic Racing at Broadford, Amaroo Park and Lakeside in Queensland, riding Velocette, Norton and BSA from his stable. There were also numerous Adventure rides in Australia and overseas. The sales of his precision cutting business, Waterjet Dynamics, about 25 years ago allowed him to establish The Shed to house his ever-expanding collection of motorcycles and cars. The Shed quickly became the mecca for enthusiasts, not just to gaze at the vehicles, but to learn skills under Ric’s tutelage.

The motorcycle auction, which runs until 8th December, features an eclectic array, highlighted by Ric’s Series C Vincent Rapide, his 1965 Velocette Venom in Historic Racing trim, a 1956 Moto Guzzi Falcone Sports, a Triumph/BSA in racing trim, a 1969 Yamaha TR2 racer, 1983 Ducati Darmah SD 900, a 1977 BMW R1100RS, two Kawasaki KLR650s, and several scooters. There is also a large assortment of genuine factory brochures and other memorabilia.

Bidding is now open and closes in a staggered manner at 2-minute intervals from 5:00pm AEDT on Sunday the 8th of December, with the last lot concluding from 8:02 PM. Visit Donington Auctions for the complete catalogue at https://online.doningtonauctions.com.au/m/view-auctions/catalog/id/201
